Why did you decide to become a Board Member of Antrim Enterprise

I have an interest in both social enterprise and business start up and was aware of the work that Antrim Enterprise do.  When the opportunity arose, I felt my skillset was a good fit to add value to the team in supporting local entrepreneurs and businesses develop and grow.

For anyone considering starting up what advice would you have for them?

I would encourage anyone with a business idea to have courage and take the leap, otherwise you will always be wondering “what if”.  There is guidance and support available, you just need to seek it.  An experienced mentor may also be beneficial as their experience could keep your focus on track.

What are the main issues and barriers facing developing businesses today?

In the current climate securing finance in order to start up a new business can be challenging as well as developing a business that is sustainable in an ever-changing environment. But with a passion for what you believe in, a proactive approach and support, you could have a very successful business.

Life outside current job/position on AEA board

I am a married mum with two grown up children.  I have 2 dogs & 2 horses requiring lots of exercise and attention.  I volunteer at a local primary school, and other charitable organisations.

I enjoy the gym, bootcamps and reading autobiographies.
