Why did you decide to become a Board Member of Antrim Enterprise & what does your role as a Trustee entail?
I decided to become a board member to try and give something back to the area where I live and work. My role with Antrim Enterprise involves participation in committees and become an active participant in the workings of Antrim Enterprise with a view to supporting the excellent work of the team there.
For anyone considering starting up what advice would you have for them?
Research your idea well, take as much advice as you can and listen to those in business. Set goals for yourself and measure your performance and have a mentor who will guide and help you.
What are the main issues and barriers facing developing businesses today?
One of the main barriers is finance – finance to get the business up and running and then develop. The other barriers are time to do all you want / need to do, lack of support and courage to take the leap!
Life outside current job/position on AEA board
I enjoy walking and reading- I’m afraid I like the light hearted reads- nothing serious!
I find gardening very therapeutic but don’t get enough time or indeed weather to maximize this.
Then if I have a spare moment I do like dress-making.
