We recognise that keeping children, young people and adults at risk of harm, safe is paramount. Preventing those who might wish to harm or abuse children or adults at risk of harm from engaging in area of responsibility at Antrim Enterprise Agency whether paid or voluntary, is a top priority. The entire organisation is expected to share this commitment.
We acknowledge that all staff; whether paid or voluntary; have a duty under the Charities Act (NI) 2008 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007, to keep children, young people and adults at risk of harm, safe and to protect them from sexual, physical, psychological, emotional or financial harm. Children and adults at risk of harm have the right to be safe and to be treated with respect and dignity. Therefore, our staff & freelancers are expected to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in our programmes/services. Failure to do so may be regarded as professional neglect. All staff are required to disclose, record and report any concerns without fear of any recourse or consequences to them in doing so.
Safeguarding is EVERYONE’s responsibility
- Any concerns of a safeguarding nature must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at the earliest possible opportunity.
- Complete the Safeguarding Concern Record
- Return to Jennifer McWilliams; the Designated Safeguarding lead or
- They are fully responsible for investigating & liaising with their local Health & Social Care Trust or reporting the incident to the PSNI
