Whispering Alpacas
I am a single parent of two grown up children with additional needs and have a great passion for the outdoors, nature and animals.
While my daughter was very unwell in hospital for the whole of her teenage years and into early adulthood I had noticed there was a very limited range of resources for her and other young people in the same situation and I felt the benefits of being outside, working with animals helped me cope with my daughters illness, which luckily for me I was already doing before she became unwell.
This got me thinking that I would like to provide the same kind of experiences to help other people too.
What inspired me to join the Exploring Enterprise Programme
What inspired me to come onto the programme was knowing I couldn't do it alone and I needed some guidance and courage to move forwards with my idea.
How beneficial was the Exploring Enterprise Programme to you
Very beneficial. I learned a lot. It's given me a lot of motivation that I needed to carry my plans forward. It was great meeting other people too and getting to learn things from each other. It was great having the support from the Programme too.
My key achievements from the Programme
I have had a number of achievements including coming up with a business name, finding out who my target audience is and building up some useful contacts.
I now have more confidence and a better understanding of running a business.
Where I am now
I have my business name and I'm ready to design a logo with the aid of a graphic designer. I have also started to work out pricing and T&C's.
How I found the support from Antrim Enterprise Agency
Absolutely second to none. Kerry was always there when I needed her and she knew exactly when to push me forward and importantly when I needed a breather.
My advice for someone starting a business
Don't try to do it all yourself, always seek good business advice.
